Hi, Writing Again

Starting to Write Again#

I started thinking about writing many years ago and tried to build a platform for writing. However, I eventually gave up because after building the platform, I would need to maintain it to prevent any loss or inconvenience.

Tonight, I unexpectedly came across xLog, a writing platform deployed on the blockchain. I had considered writing some diary entries on Mirror, but during my trial period, I found many bugs in the Mirror product. Driven by my perfectionism, I ended up with no output. Additionally, Mirror had too much of a "crypto flavor" and lacked a "social" aspect. It seemed that writing non-crypto content would not fit well with this platform. With these considerations, I gave up using Mirror to write articles.

Blockchain is a great creation that can preserve the spark of human civilization, including the words I am writing now, which will permanently exist on xLog. Thinking about this has ignited my desire to write.

Content to Write#

Don't take it too seriously, just write whatever comes to mind. It's always good to record sudden ideas. In 10 or 20 years, when I look back, I will have articles left on the blockchain, serving as memories.

Perhaps what I write can be considered as an essay, although I'm not sure if the term "essay" sounds too formal. It could be seen as a public diary.

Writing doesn't require too many barriers, at least that's how I feel. It's like having the right to speak, writing whatever comes to mind. However, there are some general topics, such as my understanding of life, what has happened to me in recent years, daily trivialities, and changes in emotions.

I feel that I might record some changes in my mindset as a developer over the past few years. I might also try to sort out what I am going to do in the uncertain future, or share the shallow views of a crypto newbie who has been involved for less than two years. Alternatively, I might reflect on my thoughts on human relationships this year. Many ideas always come up unintentionally at night.

I am very grateful to my current company, NEAR Protocol. It's a thank you to Web3, which has given me more of my own time. I am a very sensitive sleeper. My previous job was my first job, writing code at Aftership. Because of sleep issues, I often had to drink a lot of coffee to adjust my state, as I was most efficient at coding in the afternoon and evening.

(This is not to say that Aftership is not good, but rather a comparison between two jobs. Web2 companies have a unique sense of catching up, making it difficult for you to have your own time to do things that can greatly improve yourself, or to take a break.)

At NEAR, at least I have time to think about what I should do next. Should I write? Should I contribute to open source? Should I work on my own side projects? I feel like I can do all of these here. So, I am very grateful for this job, and if nothing unexpected happens, I want to work here for a few more years.

Because of my current job, I have free time to study code, write, date, and do many things to enrich myself. I will write about these things slowly in the future.

Just Like Chatting#

Writing is just like chatting, expressing current feelings. I didn't realize I had written so much.

It's good to talk more. Otherwise, I might lose my ability to communicate.
